Job Title: Locum General Practitioner – Enhanced Access Clinics (Saturdays)

Location: St Neots area, Cambridgeshire
Hours: Saturdays (Enhanced Access Clinics)
Contract Type: Locum / Sessional
Rate: Competitive (dependent on experience)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Locum General Practitioner to support our Enhanced Access service, delivering high-quality primary care to patients during Saturday clinics. This role is ideal for a GP looking to supplement their weekday commitments while contributing to improved patient access and continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, effective, and patient-centred consultations (face-to-face, telephone, and/or video)

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions

  • Prescribe medications in accordance with best practice and national guidelines

  • Manage clinical workload efficiently within allocated sessions

  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records using the practice’s clinical system

  • Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team

  • Support continuity of care and appropriate follow-up arrangements

  • Adhere to safeguarding, infection control, and clinical governance standards

Enhanced Access Duties

  • Deliver appointments as part of the Enhanced Access programme, improving availability outside core hours

  • Manage pre-booked and, where appropriate, same-day appointments

  • Provide urgent care within primary care scope

  • Ensure appropriate signposting or escalation when required

Essential Requirements

  • Fully qualified GP with current registration on the General Medical Council GP Register

  • Inclusion on the NHS Performers List

  • Valid licence to practise in the UK

  • Up-to-date indemnity cover

  • Excellent clinical, communication, and organisational skills

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience in Enhanced Access or out-of-hours GP services

  • Familiarity with EMIS, SystmOne, or other GP clinical systems

  • Experience working in diverse or high-demand primary care settings
